Cowgirl Hat Pattern

Hello, crochet friends! I made this cute little cowgirl hat as a great gift for anyone who is a wild child or has a free spirit. These hats make perfect little keychains or car ornaments! This pattern is beginner-friendly, and it should only take at most an hour to make. Please read on for the free crochet pattern:

Skills Required/Abbreviations

  • magic ring - MR

  • single crochet - SC

  • invisible decrease - DEC

  • increase - INC

  • fasten off - FO

  • slip stitch - SLST

  • stitch - ST

  • front loops only - FLO

Materials Needed

  • brown and taupe/tan medium worsted weight 4 yarn (I used Sugar n’ Cream Cotton yarn)

  • 2.5mm crochet hook

  • stitch marker

  • darning needle

  • scissors

make a MR, SC 6 in the ring (6)

Round 2

INC x6 (12)

Round 3

(SC, INC) x6 (18)

Round 4

(2SC, INC) x6 (24)

Round 5-9

SC around (24) 

Round 10

*change color*; SC around (24)

Round 11

*change back to original color*; SC around (24)

Round 12

In FLO; INC x2 around (48)

Round 13

(SC, INC) around (72)

SLST into next ST to connect rounds

*Fasten off and weave in ends*

*Mold your piece to look like a cowgirl hat*
